What will my child be doing in 3rd grade?

I get asked a lot what will my child be learning this year. I know that most of you all know that our state and county has made a move to a new set of standards that have moved around what our students need to know in each grade. Since that is happened I have given you the below link so that you can see the common core state standards for third grade. http://www.corestandards.org/Math/Content/3/introduction
This website breaks down for you what I am expected to teach your child in math and what they should know before they start fourth grade. I personally think that this site is very helpful for parents because it gives you an overview of what I will be teaching and then it goes more in depth by actually given you the standard. So as a parent if you ask your child what were your I can statements from math class today you would be able to pull up this link and look at each standard and figure out what standard I was teaching today. This is because my I can statements come straight from the standards that you see on this website. Since this website is all about standards it will be used heavily in my classroom since I base all my lessons of the standards that you see. But one way that I will incorporate the standards that you see on this website into my actual lesson  is through my I can statements. I have I can statements wrote for every lesson I do and I put them on the board for the students to see and be able to assess if they met or did not met the I can statement. So overall I think that this website is good for parents to become more familiar with the content that is being taught in third grade.
